Laser Marking

Our laser places an easy to read alphabetical and numerical identification on the lingual of both NuSmile Anterior and Posterior crowns. The laser i.d. is impervious to all routine sterilization methods. After crown placement, the i.d. can be removed with a polishing point, if desired.

Size 1 Posterior & Size 0 Cuspid Crowns

A Size 2 primary molar crown or Size 1 primary cuspid crown is sometimes too large mesio-distally when space loss due to decay has occurred. NuSmile now offers a Size 1, straight-walled posterior crown and a Size 0, cuspid crown for these cases. Or, for some cases you may try using the upper contra-lateral primary molar crown for a lower posterior restoration as the mesio-distal width of the upper crown is not as great as the lower crown width.

Replace or repair?

For anterior NuSmile® Primary Crowns, it is recommended to replace the crown if a portion of the esthetic facing is displaced, rather than attempting to repair the defect.

Did you know?

Many NuSmile® customers will use the small upper lateral NuSmile® Crowns to restore lower incisors!

Interesting Facts About Sterilization

Why is cold sterilization in glutaraldehyde the preferred and recommended method for sterilizing your NuSmile® Crowns? Research studies have shown this method to cause the least amount of color change to the esthetic facing. Also, this method actually increases the sheer strength of the esthetic facing.

What if we steam autoclave our NuSmile® Primary Crowns? While this is acceptable, you will see some color change (darkening) in the facing and a loss in sheer strength. We recommend keeping a seperate stock box for autoclaved crowns. Many times these darker crowns are perfect for single crown placement situations!

EC Certificate Issued!

NuSmile® Primary Crowns has met the strict manufacturing and quality standards of Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC. We are allowed to affix the CE marking of conformity to the NuSmile® Esthetic Primary Crown System. The CE mark is required for medical devices used and sold within the European Community.
